Japan’s first genuine resort hotel
1878—the dawn of Japan’s resort history.
Fujiya Hotel came into being in the Miyanoshita district of Hakone.
For more than 140 years it has survived tumultuous times and periods of high economic growth, but has continued to grow one step at a time thanks to the patronage of its customers.
FUJIYA HOTEL—a driving force behind the Hakone resort
Since ancient times the hot springs of Hakone have soothed weary bodies. Beginning in the Meiji period the blessed natural environment in the Fuji-Hakone area came to be enjoyed as a health resort and tourist destination and its name was soon known the world over.
Undeniably the strongest feature of Fujiya Hotel
Anybody that has been to Fujiya Hotel is soon transfixed by its architectural beauty. The hotel’s founder, Sennosuke Yamaguchi, had endless amounts of energy to realize the construction of such magnificent Western-style buildings in the long-established health resort of Miyanoshita.
Utmost honesty in all that we do
For a little over 140 years since its establishment in 1878, Fujiya Hotel’s buildings, facilities, and services have continued to change in step with the times, but there is one thing that has remained constant all this time. That is, the Japanese mindset, or the spirit of hospitality.
